Boundary
An enclosed area form by line, polyline or arcYou only can apply a hatch pattern to a boundary
By default it cannot be open
Pattern
Solid: One tone color
Apply from Tool Palettes
View tab > Palettes panel > Tool PalettesDrag & drop the hatch pattern from the Tool Palettes
You also can click the pattern from the Tool Palettes, then pick a boundary in the drawing
Hatching
Home tab > Draw panel > HatchA Hatch Creation ribbon appear
Boundary
Pick Point: Pick an internal point (default setting)
Select Boundary Objects: A single and closed object
Properties
Hatch color: You can override the current color
Background Color: Specifies a background color for hatch pattern
Hatch Transparency: You can override the original value
When you adjust the transparency of the hatch pattern, background color will follow
Hatch Angle: Relative angle for the hatch pattern
Hatch Pattern Scale: Control the space between lines in the pattern
If you working in a layout with annotative scale
Expand the Properties panel, select Relative To Paper Space
The scale you set will based on the viewport scale
Hatch Layer Override: Override the current layer
Hatch Origin
Use Current Origin: Start from the drawing origin (0,0)
Boundary Extents: Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right, Top-Left, Top-Right, Center
Set Origin: Start any point in the drawing
Hatch Options
Associative: Default setting. Hatch associated with the boundary, the boundary changes, the pattern will follow
Match Properties: Match properties of a hatch pattern, apply in another boundary
It's useful if the hatch pattern is send from somebody, it's not available in the hatch library
You can copy & paste to the drawing, then use match properties to apply this hatch pattern to any boundary
Create Separate Hatches: By default is not separate, you must click to highlight it to make it separate
Separate hatches mean that no matter you pick how many boundaries within the same command, it remain separate in individual boundary
Island Detection:
Boundaries inside hatch boundaries are island
You only can use Pick Point for the Island Detection
Gap Tolerance: Set the maximum size of gap that can be ignored for the hatch boundary
Default value is 0, that mean boundary must be enclose and no gap
