Inquiry

Properties

Every object has properties, like layer, color, linetype, lineweight


Also geometric information, like Start X, Y; End X,Y; Delta X, Y; Length, Angle


Hover cursor an object, a tooltip display the basic information of the object

Change Properties

Many properties can be change by Quick Properties, Properties Palettes, Match Properties

Quick Properties

You must turn it on at the status bar


Then select the object


A Quick Properties palettes pop-up, you can view and change the basic properties
If you deselect the object, the palettes will disappear

Properties Palettes

Displayed and lists all properties of the selected object

View tab > Palettes panel > Properties


If more than one objects selected, displayed common properties for all selected objects
If no objects selected, only the current settings of general properties are displayed
Only properties with the white background can be change

List

Displays property data for the selected objects

Home tab > Properties panel expand > List



A text window above the command line, displayed the information of the selected object
You can copy the information to any text file
But you cannot edit any information in the text window

Match Properties

Applies the properties of a selected object to other objects
Object properties like layer, color, linetype, lineweight can be copy
Hatch properties like hatch pattern, layer, color, linetype, lineweight will be copy

Home tab > Clipboard panel > Match Properties


Select the source object, then select one or multiple objects to match
Match Properties work across drawing
If the layer does not exist in the destination drawing, it automatically created one

Quick Select

Creates a selection set based on filtering criteria

Home tab > Utilities panel > Quick Select

 

Object type: Based on the type available in the entire drawing
Properties: Based on the object type you select
Operator: = Equal, <> Not Equal, > Greater than, < Less than, Select All
Value: Based on the properties you select

Append to current selection set: Adds the results to the current selection

Measure

Obtain measurements of the created objects
Measure distances, radii, diameters, angles, areas, volumes

Distance

Home tab > Utilities panel > Measure > Distance



Snap one point to another point for the distance

Radius

Select an arc or circle


Angle

Select arc, circle, line


Area

Specify corners then press Enter


Subtract Area

Start Area measure command


Click Add area on the command line


Specify all the corners then press Enter


Click Subtract area on the command line


Click Object on the command line


Select objects to subtract, you can select multiple objects


Result show on the command line
Only select object to subtract once
Otherwise it will subtract twice
