Layout

Layout is a paper space, for printing


A right-angle triangle show at the lower-left corner of the layout


A PAPER icon show on the Status bar


A dashed box represents the printable area
A solid box inside is a viewport
Viewport show whatever you drawing in the model space

If you have more than one layout


Just hover cursor on the layout tab, a thumbnail will show the drawing in layout

Switch to Model in the Layout

When making changes in layout, you need to switch into model space


Double-click inside the viewport to activate it
A UCS icon show that you are now in the model space


The PAPER icon on status bar change to MODEL

Only one viewport can be active at a time
You can zoom and pan, and make changes in the drawing

Every drawing only has one model space, any changes you make in the model through viewport will reflected in the model, drawing and all viewports

Return to Paper Space

Double-click outside the viewport to return back to paper space
A right-angle triangle show at lower-left corner of the layout
The icon on status bar change from MODEL to PAPER

Create New Layout

Right-click on the layout tab


Select New Layout


Layout 1 created at the end of other layout

Copy and Rename Layout

Hold down the Ctrl key


Drag the active layout to the new location


Double-click on the layout name, input the new name

Create Layout Viewport

By default, every layout has a viewport
You can resize and add on more different size of viewports
Layout tab > Layout Viewports > Rectangular
 


You also can use the preset viewport by the new Layout tab

Layout tab > Layout Viewports > Named


Switch to New Viewports tab
Select the preset viewport, Click OK


Press [Enter] to fit all viewports into the printable area

Scaling Viewport

Select the viewport


Lower-right corner display the scale factor
Click the icon and select the scale factor from the list
Scale the viewport mean scale the objects inside the viewport

Lock Viewport

You can lock the viewport to prevent accidently changing the viewport scale
