Fillet and Chamfer - Modify

Fillet

Round-up the corner
Modifies the intersection of 2 objects by  a arc with specify radius

Home tab > Modify panel > Fillet


Radius option


Current Settings: Mode = Trim, Radius = 0



Select 1st object then 2nd object


Objects trim with the sharp corner (Radius = 0)

Start the Fillet command again


Click Radius on command line


Input 20 for the radius



Select 1st and hover cursor on 2nd object to preview the result


Select the 2nd object
An arc radius 20 tangent to both lines and trim the outer portion

No Trim option

Start Fillet command


Click Trim on command line


Select No trim


Select 1st and 2nd object


An arc tangent to both lines and the outer portion not trim

Multiple

Start Fillet command


Change the Trim option back to trim


Click Multiple on command line


Continue select 1st and 2nd object on the other 3 intersections


3 arcs tangent to each 2 lines and trim the outer portion

Polyline option

Start Fillet command


Click Polyline option on command line


Hover cursor over the polyline
You can preview the fillet result

All the 4 corners fillet at once by polyline option

Zero Fillet

Start Fillet command
Press and hold <Shift> key



Current settings: Radius = 20
Select 1st line then 2nd line, but not the arc


Corner of polyline change to sharp corner

Parallel Lines


Current settings: Radius = 20
But distance between 2 lines are more than 20

Select 1st line then 2nd line


AutoCAD create an arc tangent to both lines

Non-Parallel Lines


Current Settings: Radius = 20, Sharp corner < 20


Fillet go backward



Current Settings: Radius = 10, Opening > 10


Fillet go forward

Chamfer

Cut-off the corner, or create a beveled edges at the corner

Home tab > Modify panel > Chamfer


(TRIM Mode) Current chamfer Dist1 =0, Dist2 = 0


Click Distance on command line


Specify first chamfer distance <0>, input 10


Specify second chamfer distance <10>, input 20, then press Enter


Select 1st line, then hover on 2nd line, you can preview the result
Select 2nd line

Angle option

Start the Chamfer command
Current chamfer Dist1 = 10, Dist2 = 20


Click Angle on command line


Input the chamfer length: 20


Input the chamfer angle: 15


Select the 1st line, then hover on the 2nd line to preview the result
Select 2nd line


Method option

Start Chamfer command
Current chamfer Length = 20, Angle = 15


Click mEthod on command line


Select Distance


Select 1st line then 2nd line
